2021 Corporal Punishment Experiences and Its Impact Survey
Child Welfare League Foundation (CWLF) Chief Executive Officer Li-Fang Pai explained the goals of consistently launching “Orange Ribbon | Love Children Zero Violence” campaign every year were: 11 years ago, there was a severe child abuse case where a 2-year-old boy was tortured to death, and the case had brought wide public attention. Besides offering our condolences, we started to deliberate on prevention. 2021 Online Social Anxiety and Cyberbullying Experiences among Children in Taiwan Survey
Almost 80% of children think cyberbullying is severe. 26% bullied children had self-harm thoughts. CWLF has partnered with Coca-Cola Foundation to launch “I Have My Right Against Bullying” anti-bullying annual campaigns since 2017. Last year (2020) with the amendment of Regulations Governing Prevention and Control of Bullying on Campuses, we called on the digital natives to stop cyberbullying. This year we continued focusing on cyberbullying issues and conducted “2021 Online Social Anxiety and Cyberbullying Experiences among Children in Taiwan Survey ” on 7th to 12th graders. The report showed that 21.1% children had been the victims of cyberbullying, which means in average, more than 1 in 5 children had been cyberbullied. The most common forms of cyberbullying among children are “unsolicited attack or accusation from others: 64.1%, hateful messages or comments: 50.0%, spread of unverified accusations or rumors to damage my reputation: 45.

Voice of Children from Divorced Families Survey and Family Mediation Services Center
In August, 2021, we opened our Family Mediation Services Center. The center integrates multidisciplinary professions (psychology, law and social work) and provides child-centered family mediation services. Social workers will guide divorcing parents to prioritize their children’s needs and understand that despite separation, co-parenting should not stop. Parents should work together to create their Child Care Plan for their children to have separated parents instead of single parents.

Instagram and CWLF Release A Parent’s Guide to Instagram
Instagram and CWLF released A Parent’s Guide to Instagram (Taiwan) to help parents better understand Instagram and start the conversation about online safety with their children. Instagram invited CWLF chief executive officer Li-Fang Pai (白麗芳), parenting expert Dr. Daniel Huang (黃瑽寧), TV show host Claire Lin (林書煒) and her daughter Joycelin Tsai (蔡中泠) to the online release event and discussed about how parents can support and establish trusting relationship with their children, and how they can help their children safely express themselves, explore new ideas and have fun with Instagram.

Let Good Things Be Heard | 1420Hz Child Digital Policy Proposal Contest
On August 2nd, we launched the first public policy platform for children in Taiwan—CWLF 1420Hz Children’s Voice Platform (Link: https://www.1420hz.org.tw). On the same day, we also kicked off Let Good Things Be Heard|1420Hz Child Digital Policy Proposal Contest, and children from all around Taiwan were invited to submit their policy proposals. If the proposal receives support from 100 people before 9pm October 31st, it can successfully move forward to the final round of the contest. The winners of the contest will receive our support to advocate their ideas, realize their proposals and make social changes.

First AR Puzzle Game on Online Safety!
CWLF developed the first AR puzzle game about online safety in Taiwan. It is a game that requires two players working together to solve the puzzles. Player 1 and Player 2 will take on different characters and help each other with the photos and hints they received in their own storylines.

Difficulties and Countermeasures Against Digital Learning Among Children from Disadvantaged Families
To understand how children from disadvantaged families in Taiwan learn digitally during pandemic, from the 16th to 25th of June, CWLF conducted a survey about learning resources in the primary schools from our rural school support program and received responses from 303 schools.
