Light Up Your Life—20th Anniversary Exhibition of the Young Sailor Learning Empowerment Program
From December 7th to 15th, 2024, we held a week-long exhibition to commemorate the 20th anniversary of our Young Sailor Learning Empowerment Program. This exhibition showcased the inspiring stories of the children involved, featured informative talks, and offered engaging parent-child activities, creating opportunities for both adults and children to participate and connect. The event attracted a total of 4,729 participants, highlighting the strong interest and support for the program.
What is the Young Sailor Learning Empowerment Program?
It is designed to support children from disadvantaged families, including those facing challenges related to financial difficulties or limited family resources, such as single-parent or intergenerational households, helping them uncover and develop their hidden talents despite these circumstances. The program was initiated in 2004, driven by the vision of one of our donors, Mr. Chu, who recognized that many children possess a deep passion for learning and developing their talents. These children should not be limited by their circumstances. The program was founded to empower these young individuals to realize their potential.
Exhibition Highlights
The exhibition highlighted the personal stories of the children, detailing their journeys in discovering their talents, celebrating their achievements, and, most importantly, emphasizing the profound impact these skills have had on their lives. We also invited other NGOs, creators, and influencers to share insights on key topics such as Family Support, Equal Access to Resources, Diverse Learning, and Self-Empowerment. Additionally, we hosted DIY workshops for parents and children, encouraging them to experience the joy of learning and creating together.

Exhibition Sections to Explore
One section of the exhibition featured the stories of nine different children, each sharing why they started learning their particular talents and how these experiences have transformed them. Some of the children also displayed their own works as part of the exhibition.

Another interactive wall showcased messages from parents and children. Visitors were invited to leave comments, and the wall quickly filled with encouraging words and colorful drawings.

In collaboration with local illustrators, we also showcased paintings co-created by the children. The illustrators guided the children in developing their ideas and bringing them to life on canvas.

To enhance the viewing experience, we offered free traditional Taiwanese snacks—egg cakes shaped like our logo and mascots, Puffy and Hearty. This added a sweet touch to the exhibition, allowing visitors to enjoy a delicious treat while appreciating the displays.

We were thrilled to see both familiar and new faces at the exhibition, eager to learn more about our programs and the children we support. Moving forward, we remain fully committed to ensuring every child has the opportunity to realize their right to growth and achieve their dreams.
